RoHS Statement
Innocore's policy on RoHS and WEEE conformity.
RoHS (Lead-Free) Directive
RoHS is an EU directive and is part of the WEEE guidelines; RoHS restricts the use of a number of hazardous substances in the manufacture of electrical equipment.
WEEE — Directive
The WEEE Directive aims to raise the level of recycling of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and encourages designers to create products with recycling in mind. Potentially, a key part of this is to make manufacturers and importers (“producers”) of EEE responsible for meeting the costs of the collection, treatment and recovery of WEEE. If products are designed with this in mind, there is an opportunity to reduce these costs.
Standards
Innocore have used the DTI (UK Department of Trade and Industry) definitions of RoHS and WEEE conformity, as described in their published guides to the ‘marketing, product development and manufacturing actions that companies need to take’ in order to cover all date related compatibility before, during and after the EC Directives are imposed. See the links at the bottom of this page.
Effective Date and who is affected
The legislation came into force on the 1st of July 2006 and restricts any company selling new products containing lead or any of the other restricted substances into the European marketplace. It also restricts non-European countries from selling non-compliant products into Europe.
